OK, new to this boating thing. Live on a lake. Purchased a 83, 26 ft pontoon to bob around last year. Had small problems earlier this year but you guys came through. changed battery, cleaned connections and changed plugs. Finally got started.
Some gas coming out now from the front of the motor. One hose is loose and needs to be secured.
The motor runs fairly well, maybe a little hard and then stalls, I had difficulty starting it again in the middle of the lake yesterday but got it going by hitting the choke repeatedly and was able to put the throttle in and make it home.
Other than what I mentionned above this motor has not been serviced in a while I assume. I want to learn more about basic maintenance and do a lot of this myself because I can't keep pulling this monster out of the water......I don't own a truck.........and need to ask for hel all the time.
Can anyone recommend a book to help me first identify the parts in the motor so I can learn more from this board? I have a 82, 90 HP V4 Johnson Seahorse. I don't ven know where the cabs are to clean them or when the fuel pump is.
I really enjoy getting out there but I stay close to the house from fear of getting stranded.
I need a book for dummies to know what to look at.
Can we post pics on this site?
Thanks
Marc
