I am new to the inboard world so I want to start off easy. I have just purchased a 1993 3.0 4cyc OMC Cobra I was wondering if any of my outboard props will fit, I have both v 4 and v 6 OMC props. The boat is many miles away so I cannot check.

I am sure I will have a lot more annoying questions and will appreciate every answer

Thanks,
Craig

welcome aboard. I know the older stringer had the same lower foot as the V4. not sure regarding your cobra.

have you tried one?

Howdy,

Many of the props that "fit" the Cobras will also fit will also fit a great many of the older Evinrude/Johnson outboards.

I have 2 stainless props (a 17 and a 19) that I used on my former 460 King Cobra and both of them will fit a host of older (big) OMC outboards.

According to the iBoats application guide http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Sea...licationGuide/

Your 93 Cobra has a 15 spline propshaft. I looked up my OMC 391290 SS 15"x17p stainless for example, and it appears that it fits just about every Cobra made and a long list of outboards up to and including the newer ETEC's.

If your props are for a 15 spline shaft and/or your engine is in the list above, you're good to go!

Cheers,

Rick

Thanks for your help. I went to the link provided and it looks like it is going to be the V 6 outboard props that are going to fit.

does anyone have a preference of stainless props over aluminum on the 3.0 l cobra. I always used stainless on my outboards but just thought I would ask, as I said I am a total newbie when it comes to inboards. I am planning on buying several different props for skiing and cruising.

Thanks again!

yes Johnnyrude V6, 15 tooth spline prop will fit 1990 and later 3.0 Cobra lowers.

as far as ss over aluminum - it's all about efficiency vs. price, and a slight increase in risk to a bent propshaft with ss, no different than making the same comparison on outboards.

I ran a 19 pitch and 17 pitch stainless (depending on use) on my 3.0 stringer. I found the 17p on craigslist for $35 that someone forgot to sell with the boat and was looking to get rid of it.
