19' bayliner capri, converting to v8 inboard (was 4cyl). using 898 series outdrive/motor/inner transom shield. steering cable on boat comes up a couple inches short of screwing onto transom. it is a teleflex cable (stamped on sheathing). i measured cable length, with steering shaft at end fully retracted, rounded up to 15'. extended it seems it should be 16'. i need only couple more inches, but this cable is already maxed. i'm sure i measured right, so it seems i need either 16' or 17'. should i go another foot just to be sure, like 17' or 18'? also, stamped on helm is rack system. i've seen cables that look the same, but for rotary system. can i use a rotary cable on rack system? am i confusing things? thanks
