Who here owns one of the newer welded Trackers and are you happy with your boat? Thinking of buying a new Pro 165 and would like your feedback. Price on the 165 is just hard to beat in this size rig with the 40hp.

No experience with that model.

There are lots of threads discussing Tracker welded hull quality.

If you want a jon/bass style boat for use in calm waters, go for it.

I like how they show 3 people fishing in their ad, on a boat that has seating for only 2 while underway.
$12,000 is a lot to spend on a new boat in this buyers market we now have for used boats.

Lots of used ones on CL, for $5000-9000.

Re: Newer Tracker Pro 165 welded hull?

I have the 2010 Pro16. The beam is a bit more narrow than the new Pro165 and they have upgraded the trailer package and a few other things. They are all welded, which is one thing they hype. But they are really lean on storage and there is a lot of wasted space on them. The Panfish and the Pro165 as well as the earlier versions of those 16 footers are okay for smaller waters, but any large reservoir or lake not really, IN MY OPINION as an owner of one of them. We took ours to OH Ivie and Lake Whitney here in Texas and it was sort of rough away from the coves, back waters, and out into the big wide open. They are REALLY light.

Would I buy a Tracker again? Maybe the larger aluminum Tracker bass boats handle diferently but these 16 footers, I wouldn't. A fishing pontoon , maybe. If I was doing it today I'd look at G3 or one of Lowe's lines.

When I bought mine, they were having a big sale. Reasons I'm keeping mine for a while is that I paid cash for it, it's "okay" for the wife and I, I replaced all of the seats with good ones (the stock seats beat us to death on anything more than a perfectly calm lake and the fishing seats were uncomfortable), and we're looking at getting a fishing pontoon in a few years. That's my opinion and my experience on the Tracker small aluminum bass boats.

Thanks Doug! Thats what I am looking for. I have owned 2 previous aluminum bassboats the same size and they are marginal on some of our waters in bad weather, but are nearly perfect for the type of fishing I do. (if it bites a hook i am after it LOL) I know there are much better brands out there along with considerably higher price. Generally just me and a dog fishing now.
