So the 150 horse 'rude I was going to be hooked up with turned out to be a 115 horse. Guess 115 and 150 sound fairly similar. Anyway, I picked it up yesterday, and have some questions. Knowing the year would be handy, if anyone can help me out. The serial # is E01519, the model # is 115983E. The POs replaced it with a new Honda 130 horse, after not being able to get it to run right. They replaced the ignition pack, and the rest of the ignition looks new as well. I still need to get the controls and harness from them, then I can try to run it. Curiously, a Purilator electric fuel pump was installed, anyone have any wisdom as far as if I should just get a proper pulse pump for it or try the electric?

The next question is, how is this motor? I am asking because I am curious how it would stack up against my 69 Merc 1250 (depending on if I get it running of course). I am wondering if performance, weight, economy would be similar, or would one surpass the other. I am looking for another project hull, so what I would want to know is which motor would be the best to keep for the project boat and which one to put on the current boat that I would sell after finishing the project.

The only thing I can tell about it right now is that it is a 90 degree V4, appears to have electric shift, and does not have power trim. I also paid nothing for it. Any thoughts and info will be mucho appreciado....

Re: Newly aquired Evinrude 115 hp questions

Jason,
I have just been put into the same position and have been wondering if taking on this project will be worth it. I have the same motor and fine it to be a real challenge. The first problem is finding a pulse pack for the motor. Let me know what you decide to do as at least one of us will have parts if we decide to not prusue this. The boat shops say the motor is worth nothing but this just intrigues me to try harder. I viewed your projects on your site and wish I found this contact 6 months ago. I just gave away a Johnson (forgot name) original boat which would of been a fun project. I am sure the guy will not restore it but I needed to get it out of the yard. Good luck ad keep me informed as I am trying to make the same decision. 1969 Johnson 115

Dave :)
