I was down at the boat yesterday to change the plugs on my 2000 130 Yamaha 2 stroke and had a slight problem. I have a ratchet set from Sears/Craftsman with a 5/8 socket that indicates "Spark Plug". Unfortunatly, it didnt fit the NGK plugs so I had to improvise, which I really dont like to do. I have a gift certificate for Sears and hope to use it for the socket that fits NGK plugs, does anyone know what size I should look for? Or is there a tool that I could buy from NGK that is designed to fit their plugs? Should I possibly buy a torque wrench? Any insight, as usual is greatly appreciated.

13/16 fits a NGK plug. It is available from Sears as a plug style socket.

Thanks for the feedback Ray. I see that the size is 13/16, but is there a long or short one? Is it a standard lenght? It seems as if the NGK plugs are longer than the other types. The problem that I had with the 5/8 was that it wasnt even long enough to tell if it even fit the plug. Thanks again. Pat

It will be noticably longer than the 5/8 version.

OK buddy, that is what I will ask for when I go to Sears this weekend. Thank you very much for the feedback.

I always use a tube spanner. There should be one under the cover. Also much easier to replace if you drop it overboard...
