Re: ngk to champion

I don't know what champion plug is equivalent, but you might be wise to check the manual for what the correct champion plugs are for you motor (or maybe someone else here knows) instead of what's equivalent to the ones in there now. I just changed out some ngk's that were in a motor I just bought, they were actually the wrong heat range - not the correct ones called for by OMC.

The dealer where I bought the plugs had all the cross reference charts... they showed me what NGK's should have been in it and that's what I bought.

Hope this helps.

Brent

If the plugs you're looking for is for your 88' 140 ,the correct Champion sparkplug is QL77JC4 gapped at .030" Optional continuous high speed application plug is Champion QL16V surface gap.

I'm pretty sure that plug crosses ove to a Champion L76V, but OB is right. QL77JC4, or if you aren't running any accessories off your motor battery L77JC4

thanx
i understand the need for the champion plugs.
when i had first got this motor it had those plugs in them & were only used to test fire motor .
i quickly put the QL77JC4 in.
i just found them in a box & was just curious on what they crossed to.
instead of throwing them away, if they were in the correct range - i figured id use them once than trash.

don't ge me wrong, nothing wrong with NGK's! Personally I prefer them to champions. But, you wanna be running the correct ones, that's all. I've learned to not trust previous owners... just 'cause it screws in the hole doesn't make it right!!

Brent
