Year is irrelevant in Tohatsu/Nissan OB land. What is your model? Get a Factory service manual from any Nissan/Tohatsu dealer. Use the aftermarket one for wood stove tinder.

Re: nissan 2001 outboard torque spes?

i bought the factory manual torque stand specs say 8-11ft pounds for an m8 bolt thats what i used and gasket leaking, i ran engine and tightned while running and water leak stopped but the torque is around 18-20 ft pounds now but no leakes the bolts were old bolts and a little dirty wondering if thats why torque is higher to stop leak? whats your opinion should let head stay that way? im removing power head again to replace engine base gasket this was the original problem i believe in the first place, so if think i should redo ghead gasket will do it when take power head off again? thanks hankis

You shold clean both lids to be evenly inmaculate before replacing any new gasket to achieve a perfect seal. Can torque the power head onto it's base by hand untill very tight if don't have a torquemeter, the head gasket torque is important or will leak cooling water through gasket side, eventually will lead to lose some compression and premature corrosion of related side parts.

Warped head, warped block, defective gasket, inaccurate torque wrench or operator malfunction...Take your pick. And you cannot reuse the head gasket once it has been torqued on.
