Nissan 5hp misfiring at Half-Throttle

Hello, I have a Nissan 5hp mdl# NS5B that i took out on the water for the first time 2dys ago. Started&pumping water fine and as i get about 1/2 throttle its starts to fart and stumble till it just won't get into high-speed plane mold. It dos'nt stop or cut-out and i just reduce the throttle to 1/3 speed and it will run smooth. Today started to ck the carb and ran into a problem taking it out of the motor, the choke linkage looks like it has to come out somehow before i remove the carb from the motor, does the choke button/pusher screw or pull off the linkage rod?

Normal. The rod pops out of the plastic clip on the carb.

Thanks Paul, i will work on the carb this weekend. OBTW do they make a carb rebuild kit for this motor?
