I don't have the serial number so I was wondering if you could tell me the year of the outboard by the colors. Is there a color scheme manual?
Nissan 40hp,looks early 90's?

Re: nissan colors

Thanks for the reply.
Found out it's the 2 cylinder model, the guy says it runs well.
I'm going to try to get a compression check on it,I know they should be within 10% of each other...120psi and up or alittle less be okay?
I see they were used in some C sport racing class.
Are they a solid little motor?
I don't really need another but he's asking $800 seems like a far price, might even get it cheaper.

Re: nissan colors

The compression number is not critical...Just that they are close to even. Even means even though. If one is 120, the other should be 120. The mechanical allowance for a small compression difference should not be interpreted as perfection. IE 120 on one and 110 on another is NOT good news. It's just not awful news

And the 40 C model OWNED the Sport C class:)
