what does everyone think about nissan motors? i am thinking about buying a 5hp for my small fishing boat, but don't know much about them.thanks for your help

I don't have any knowledge or experience with Nissan...but I'm sure they're well built and fairly reliable. However, in my opinion, the draw back to owning one would be the scarce parts and service network of this manufacturer vs. what you'd have if you owned a Merc or OMC product.<br /><br />Walt

They are made by Tohatsu, the oldest Jap outboard motor Manufacture. I've not owned one but have fixed them. They seem ok. How is the dealer rep? (Most important!)<br />I personally buy US stuff when I can.<br />...have fun...corm

My brother has the 5 hp Nissan motor. Starts for him every time. He has a old 14ft boat.<br />Gets around with the Nissan just fine.<br />Good luck with your search if you haven't found one yet.
