Nissan NS8B - no water cooling

Hey guys...so I just put a new water pump impeller in my NS8B. It ran fine before, I was just doing a nice spring service on it since I just bought the boat and it came with it. The impeller I pulled out looked brand new. I put a factory one in it also.

I got it all back together, and now there is no flow coming out of the upper cooling output. I have water spitting out of the lower discharge, but not the upper one. I only let it run for about 1.5 minutes...

I was careful to install the bottom end and line everything up...I will be tearing it back apart tomorrow, but anything else I should check? Thanks!

If you have verified that the motor is in fact cooling, you may have a stopped-up telltale. You can typically clear that by pushing a stiff wire or fishing line into the nipple while the motor is running/pumping.

Re: Nissan NS8B - no water cooling

I have a Nissan NS8B 3B2-1 (so 2003?) - no water from telltale ...
How do I check to see if the engine is cooling? I will be getting the manual as I also need to fix the Fwd/N/Rev (its only in FWD) - I suspect (hope) that when the previous owner put in the impeller, the connection for gears is not right. But for now I just want to verify the engine is cooling ... only exhaust comes out of pee hole but the engine does run / start fine. Any help appreciated as I don't know engine talk so I will need pinpointed advise.

Thanks.

Re: Nissan NS8B - no water cooling

This is a different issue, so should be in a new thread...

But... in answer to your symptoms...

If you are getting exhaust (only) from the pee tube, you are not pressurizing the cooling system. So consider getting a wp kit along with that Factory manual.

Shift adjustment is done using a 10mm socket to set the coupling of the shift rod and cam rod. The coupling is accessed trough the grommeted hole in the leg.
