I have a NSF15b2. I am installing a tach to help in dialing in my motor position and angle. To set up the tach I need to know the number of sparks per revoloution to get the right RPM scale. I can only find the WOT RPM range of 5500-6000, but notthe number of revoloutions. Any help or insight would be great. Thanks

Re: Nissan Tachometer

It depends. If you have an alternator tach (as the factory tachs are), then the following apllies:Tachometer pole settings:

TLDI: All models: 4-pole setting

4-strokes:
2hp to 9.8hp: 6 pole setting
9.9hp to 30hp: 12 pole setting

2-Strokes:
up to 40C: 4 pole setting
40D~90A: 6 pole setting
115~140: 12 pole setting

But if you have an inductive unit (sounds like you do), you would set up the tach for 1 spark per revolution (just like a 2-stroke). The 2-cylinder 4-strokes fire twice per cycle (both compression and exhaust). That's evident by the siamese coil... both cylinders fire every time.
