I am considering the 90hp 2 stroke nissan TLDI and the johnson 90hp conventional 2 stroke. What is the scoop on the new nissan TDLI motors? If you know anything about them, or own one, what do you think?? Thanks Bill

Howdy, TR.

All Nissan engines are Tohatsus. Tohatsu has a superb reputation for reliability worldwide.

I wouldn't be concerned with reliability, only with availability of warranty service and maybe a local source of parts.

Good luck. :)

Re: Nissan TLDI motors

Nissan/Tohatsu TLDI outboards are in fact two strokes direct injection engines (like Mercury Optimax, Yamaha HPDI or Evinrude FICHT-RAM and new E-tech), which means 45% less fuel, vibrations, noise and smoke. Nissan/Tohatsu TLDI meets all CARB 2008 and EPA 2006 environment protection requirements unlike classical two strokes (like Johnson). Till last month in this PS range, Nissan/Tohatsu was the only two stroke direct injection outboard (now Mercury has Optimax 90).
