Hi y'all and Elvin!

Well it has been a couple of years since I sold my last TLDI. I really loved my TLDI's and was a huge cheerleader here for Nissan/Tohatsu, but when I bought my current boat 2 years ago, the 115 TLDI was priced way over the cost of an E-tec primarily because Nissan/ Tohatsu dealers in the upper midwest do not carry any TLDI's in dealer stock. They are a special order only thus, dealers charge close to retail if you want to buy one via special order. On the other hand, dealers up here are still sitting on noncurrent E-tecs and are selling them at a deep discount. Thus the reason I ended up with an E-tec (which has performed well).

So now I am considering buying another new boat and would really like to try a 115 TLDI, but again I cannot find a dealer up here that has one in stock or even willing to get close on price to a 115 E-tec.

Is there a way to find out which dealers have 115 TLDI's in stock? There has to be some noncurrent ones somewhere out there in this bad economy! Does anyone here know of a dealer that would have 115 TLDI's and are competitively priced? The closest dealer I have found that has 115's in inventory from where I live in MN is down in TX!

Elvin? Any ideas?
Right now, I am seeing a $1000-$1500 difference between prices on an 115 E-tec and a 115 TLDI. I thought I would ask here before I pull the trigger on another E-tec.

(as a side note- I gave up on the 135 TLDI- it appears that Tohatsu forgot about releasing it)

Re: Nissan/ Tohatsu 115 TLDI stocking dealers

They are out of stock everywhere. There are 19 containers of engines coming in next week so they should start filtering out in about 2 weeks to anyone who needs one. I can sell you one for $8500.00, but you would have to make arrangements with a TLDI certified dealer to install it for you as we can only ship them to a dealer. I'm not sure what happened to the release of the 135. I know they were trying to get 135 hp and a 3 star rating out of it and could get only one or the other at the same time:) Last I heard was 133 point something hp and a 3 star rating with a release as a 130 hp.....The hold up was someone in marketing saying that the 130 hp would be a non seller compared to a 135. Probably true....

Re: Nissan/ Tohatsu 115 TLDI stocking dealers

I gathered that the 115's must be rare animal. To try to get the best price that I can, I was hoping to find a dealer that would be up in this part of the country where Tohatsus are tougher to sell and has been sitting on it for a while. BRP must have flooded the market with E-tecs... There just isn't a stocking Nissan/ Tohatsu dealer up here in this economy that is willing to keep a TLDI in stock. If I do see a TLDI up here, it is usually a 40 or 50. I have never seen a 115 up here (or anywhere for that matter). Everything I have read has been positive on the 115- and from experience I know that it would meet my needs really well. My E-tec 90 performs well considering that it is rigged on a hull rated for a 140. But, if you get more than 2 guys in the boat, it struggles alot. I am propped perfectly at 5300 RPM's WOT and at the perfect height- but I just need a bit more torque...

To complicate things, prices are just coming in too high to replace my 2 year old Lund. So, this is looking like it is going to be a repower. So now, I need find someone that is willing to take my E-tec in on trade and sell me a TLDI.

Elvin, I am assuming that I will have to replace the harness, controls (flush mount), and then rig the new gauges that come with the TLDI. Of course since I am anal retentive, I will need to replace the BRP Tech Series gauges so that everything matches with the Tohatsu Tach and trim gauge. So, I need a 50 mph speedo and fuel gauge. I still will have an open hole where my BRP System Check gauge sits. Ugh...

Needless to say, this is starting to look cost prohibitive. I am guessing by the time I get done with everything else I need to rig the TLDI, I am going to have costs too high to justify. I really want the 115 TLDI, but a 115 E-tec is going to be "plug and play".

So, to make this happen, I need a Tohatsu dealer that also sells Evinrude that is willing to take my 2 year old E-tec 90 in on trade for a reasonable price... Bummer...

I tried 2 years ago to buy a 115 TLDI but the price I was getting up here were around $9999.00 as I recall. So, I think your price Elvin is extremely reasonable.

Everything comes with the TLDI so you would only need the speedo and fuel gauge....About $125.00 extra. The Etec is fine product and if you get stuck going to another one I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. The Tohatsu had less growing pains, but at this point they aren't bringing the Etecs back in for software upgrades anymore so I would call them pretty much equal.
