Does anyone know if there are any issues with me trailering my boat up to the NY lakes - like the Finger Lakes etc ?

Other than distance, none I can think of. If you plan on wetting a line, make sure you have the proper fishing license.

Make sure your bilge, trailer, and drive/prop are clean and free of any plants and critters. Helps stop the spread of any envasive species.

I know Canandaigua Lake has zebra mussels & pretty sure Keuka does too. Make sure your clean going up & coming home. Be sure to wear something on your feet when you're in the water ap there - zebra mussels are SHARP!!

+ 1 on the envasive species. Often there are DEC officials at the state ramps checking your boat over for coast guard regulations and your boats cleanliness. I wash my hull on a weekly basis so they've never bothered me, but on some of the adirondack chain lakes will ask the last body of water your boat was on and can deny you access if your boat isn't clean. Milfoil, water chesnut and zebra mussels are the biggies.

Skaneatleas lake is a hard finger lake to launch on. Only one state launch with maybe parking for 20 at most. Lake residents dislike outsiders on their lake, only other launch is a BIG pain in the *** and parking is a 1/4 mile away at the fire department.

It's supposed to be for 35 vehicles with trailers, but that's if everyone parks correctly. Even then it still gets tight driving in the parking lot.

alandchris, If you go to Skan get there early!! The launch itself is one of the best/easiest around. (Beautiful lake/village).

Threemile's right they don't like some outsiders. Depends mostly on what your boat/car look like(at least in my experience)

These lakes are beautiful. You won't be disappointed!!
