No battery power to engine

Yesterday I had to troll the entire width of Tampa Bay to get back to the dock after I lost battery power to my engine and accessories. The battery reads 12.08 volts and was connected properly - not loose and no rust or corrosion problems. I didn't even have power to the tilt trim on the 200 hpdi, and none of the accessories connected to that battery operate. THIS PART IS AN UPDATE 3 HOURS LATER: I charged the battery..it's now at 12.55v, also, I checked and there is 12+ volts at the terminals near the transom where it goes in to the engine.)

THIS MAY BE IMPORTANT TO THE PROBLEM: I have been having a problem with the main engine start switch......it sticks in the 'start' position and I have to manually return it to the 'run' position.....been like that for four trips but never affected anything else. And if that switch failed completely, would that keep my tilt/trim from working? Tilt/trim normally works even when that switch is in the 'off' position.

I'm perplexed and sure could use same advice from you gurus out there! Where do I start troubleshooting?

Thanks guys!

Re: No battery power to engine

BGBASS, you were right.......the 80a main engine fuse is blown. I'm going to replace the ignition switch assembly and fuse and fire it up, after which I'll post the results.

Thanks for your advice!

Tony
