No choke

I went to the lake yesterday and the motor would not start. Sounds like there is no choke at all, starter goes fine but choke is missing. I am not sure if it is because the inside of the boat flooded a bit (thought my father got the drain plug, he thought I had done it...) Idea on why the motor won't start and why the choke won't work?

How do you usually activate the choke? Is it electric and activated by pushing in the key?

Ok, we'll have to guess what motor you have.
If it's an older mercury and it used to make a clicking noise when you pushed that button then you should be able to activate it manually with the cowl off.
Leaving the plug out shouldn't have bothered it though. (unless the motor went under)

Yes,activate it manually and try to start the engine. You can manually open it (gradually, then all the way) after it runs a bit. If it runs, fix the choke-remote problem.

Motor didn't go under but it seems to be working now that I have put a heater under the cover to dry things up a bit. Wiring is dry now and it fired up perfectly.
