I bought a pontoon a week ago. It came without a cover. I cann't come off the money right now for a cover. It MAY be a month before I'll be able to get one. The cover is kinda, the last thing on the list I want to get for the pontoon.

What are some of the other methods of takeing care of the upholstery? I mean something like a spray type deal.....just something to protect it from the sun.

I'd throw some 303 protectant on those seats until you can get a cover. Is there any way to park it under cover or cover it with tarps in the mean time. The sun does more damage than water.

I agree.

About the tarp, has anyone tried to use the Canvas snap kit on a regular heavy duty tarps?

I would like to buy the exact cover that came with this boat. It has snap buttons all the way around this guy. I've done some searching and haven't found the cover that uses the snaps. Even the custom covers that I've found still have the straps.

Very nice looking barge Jitterbug. I believe Dowco makes the covers for the Suntrackers, so I'd suggest checking with them. In the interim I agree with the 303 application, or, you could get a cheap (hundred bucks or so) semi-custom cover to tide you over until you can afford a good one. They're a pain to take off and put on and they don't last that long, but they do work. Also, not sure what's ahead of the cover, but a good cover is extremely important, so you might consider re-examining the list.

Boats get left uncovered all the time. Just get it clean and throws some protectant on the seats. Then, clean it up and cover it as soon as you can. I think any temp cover will just be crap and would be money you could put against a real cover. Also, unless the temp cover has rain poles, don't bother with it.

BTW, while folks swear by 303, there are also other perfectly good protectants in the market. Wallmat, Fleet Farm.....any local marina will sell somehing to hold you over. I use some Maguires stuff I believe and wipe it on just about weekly. Only takes a few minutes.

Be careful using car care products on your boat upholstery. I think that's discouraged. Wouldn't swear to it, but you might want to check it out just to be sure. Also, "cheap" covers shed rain and sun just fine provided they're used in conjunction with some kind of support system, not necessarily "rain poles", by which I assume you mean the adjustable pitch poles. I used one with a pontoon boat cover support system one year on another boat and it never puddled. Sure was a pain in the *** to use though, and I agree that C note is better applied to a good matched cover.

A custom fit snap on cover will double the life of the boat.

Another thing to consider when looking at a cheaper or homemade cover is the abrasion on the upholstery. The proper cover has a soft felt material on the inside where contact occurs. Stich with the dealer or Dowco. A few bucks more now will save a lot in the future.
