I feel for all you folks out west. Last evening we had storms begin about 3:30 pm, was still raining at 5am when the wife left for work. Weather report this evening was that we received over 4" of rain in that period. It is now storming again and we have received almost another 1/2" tonight!

Went down to the lake this afternoon to launch my boat for some testing and when I arrived there the 1st thing I noticed was my neighbors 12" rowboat was sunk. Thankfully that area is shallow and the boat was sitting on the bottom and it was not deep enough to submerge his outboard. Next thing I noticed was the water height. Lake had to come up about 7" from this storm. WOW!!!

Neighbor knew early this morning about his boat but couldn't react because he had to leave for work. This evening he and I took about an hour to get the boat back up and floating with all the water removed. When done I then called my brother to check on his condition and he'd just finished pulling his boat out of the water and draining it. He said his was so full he couldn't get in it and the battery was dead for the pump. Guess this is why I leave mine on the trailer.

Sunk boats would be a good excuse to pick up an auto float pump. Might prevent sinking boats and toasted batteries.

They were some intense storms with lots of crackle and booming. I like storms like that.

Was out this morning and the Fox River looks like it came up a foot since these rains went thru. The Sean Nymph which is still on the hitch from yesterday has about 8" of water in the bow from just last nights rain, and that with the plug out.

Yeah I like a good light show also. Had a couple last night that rattled the windows!
