Thanks to all you experts out there who have helped me in the past, I now have a new problem.

I recently purchased a used Bombardier single lever binnacle control for my 1992 28 HP Johnson motor. The controller is apparently designed for motors with the "QuikStart" electronic starting system. There is no shift disengage button on the controller, nor does the control handle "pull out" to disengage the shift control. What can I do to get a fast idle.

Re: No fast idle with Bombardier motor controller.

I just checked my parts catalog - If the control you have is indeed a Bombardier control, it has a button release on the top of the housing for "fast idle". Otherwise, you've got something else...

-John

Re: No fast idle with Bombardier motor controller.

John,

Thanks for the reply.
The control is indeed a Bombardier, but there is no shift disengage button. When I bought it, I was told that the handle pulls out to disengage the shift cable, but that I found is not the case. Unfortunatly, I believe this particular model is designed for a motor with the "QuikStart" electronic starting system. This system starts the motor and provides the proper idling speed via computer control, (as best that I can understand).
I will try to return it and /or exchange it for another model. Thanks again for the help.

Oops, I was wrong about the handle not pulling out. Using a rather substantial screwdriver, I moved the control handle out and released the shift control and am not able to get a fast idle.
Joe
