No forward gear after re installing OMC cobra outdrive.

Hi everybody
I am pretty new to the site but have been lurking for a while. I need some help if anyone can offer. I have a 1986 3.0L OMC Cobra in a 17' Thunderceraft Citation. I have had the outdrive off over the winter to replace gimbal, u joint, bellows and shift cable. Everything has gone back together fine, and today I finally got to stab the outdrive back into place.

Once in place I tried the shifting to see if everything was still okay. Nope.... I have reverse through its full range, forward will engage but I get no range after the engagement. I used stuarts info to adjust the shift cable, and I am pretty sure I got it right. It had full range of motion forward and reverse prior putting the outdrive back on, but now nothing. The shift rod height hasn't been messed with, and forward was fine before I took the outdrive off.

Anyone have some good advice or tips.

It should be fine if all went well with R&R, you mignt try bumping the starter or turning the engine just a little by hand to get the gears to mesh then the lever should drop right in for ya.
