No fuel spraying into carb Mercruiser 5.0

Is there somewhere on here I can look for this info, and if not any ideas on where I should start. I am pretty much a google mechanic so if I say something dumb that is why and please bear with me. I don't know why, but for some reason I suspect the fuel/water serarator. Could this be?

How long since last rebuild? If it starts and idles you are getting fuel. If it dies or bogs on acceleration probably the accelerator pump (common) and carb needs rebuild.
