It sometimes works to just hold the bulb in a vertical position while squeezing. Make sure the fitting to the tank is air tight.

no gas pumping

I went and got a new ball pump to prime my engine, the new ball pump works fine, I have at least 8 gallons of gas in the tank, but the gas will not prime up to the ball pump at all. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to get it to prime. It had been sitting fully winterized and the old ball pump was hard as a rock.

In other words straight up, the fitting on the tank is fine, I checked it. Just odd nothing will pump at all.

Check to be sure you didn't put it on backwards. The arrow should point towards the motor. If that is good then there has to be something wrong with your hose or the pickup in the tank. Be sure vent is open on thank.
