Hey.
so a dilemma here.
i can't get any water to run the boat to winterize it.
how can i still do this.

i was thinking just to drain block which there are 2 outlets.
i was going to remove the thermostart housing also then pour down some antifreeze untill it comes out of the drain outlets then just stop and close the drain.
i also have fogging oil but since i cant run it then there is no need to use this but i was thinking maybe just spray some into the sparkplugs.
is this sufficient?

Ayuh,... Drain the 2 drains, makin' Sure there ain't no crud blocking them, 'n pull the Big hose off the circulating waterpump...
Then sell the antifreeze or something, as ya Don't need it...

as for foggin' it, Ya, squirt abit in through the sparkplug holes, 'n roll it over on the starter, then reinstall the sparkplugs...

you mean this hose where the clamp is?? (red arrow in pic)

i am not too sure how to roll over the engine on the starter? is it still safe without water?
is there a tutorial on how to do this where i can read?

Nope,... The bottom of the Big hose, at the circulating waterpump,...
Lower right side of yer picture...
The arrow in the picture is the in-coming waterline from the drive...

Just turn the motor over a revolution or 2, or 3, with the starter...
That little bit won't hurt the impeller...

There's a Winterization thread in the Adults Only section pinned to the top of this forum...

Ayuh,... just the lower end is enough...
The circulating waterpump hides maybe a quart of water...

another question.
does the engine need to be hoisted up to get into the risers? i need to take a look there and see if there is a clog as i have signs for that when running sometimes.

Huh,..??..??
The Riser, which you only have 1 of, is the curved exhaust pipe, upper portside in yer picture,..??

Unbolt it from the manifold, loosen the hose clamps at the other end, 'n lift it off...

Just squirt the fogging oil in the plug holes, put the spark plugs back in, but don't put the leads back on the spark plugs and turn the key for about 3-4 seconds.

Re: no hose to run boat winterizing

Hey thanks for the info,

This year I plan on extending my fishing as late as possible, so basically my boat is sitting in the driveway, halfway winterized (water drained after every trip), and I was curious how others handled this, my plan was to do exactly that, squirt some fogging oil in the cylinders and turn it over a few times to spread it around.

What about changing the drive oil and checking the impeller, and changing the engine oil and filter and 'stabilising' the fuel and draining the fuel from carby and pump? I'd also squirt the fogging goop down the carby throat so the intake valve seats get some on them too....

Loosen the hose clamps around the top of the rubber tube immediately below the exhaust elbow (to give it its correct name :D). Remove the 2 bolts holding the elbow to the exhaust manifold and pull the elbow up.... You might have to give the elbow a few wriggles to break the grip the rubber tube will have on it....
