Hi guys.

Having a lot of trouble with idle and low speeds on my motor. In order to keep it running I have to open up the throttle as soon as the engine turns over or it dies. In fact, it also starts better if I have the throttle opened up slightly when I pull the cord.

If I leave the motor at idle or run at low speed it will bog down and die, usually in seconds. When it dies, I have to let it rest for several minutes before I can start it again.

My first thought was the carburetor needed cleaning, so I cleaned it out last week, and ran some seafoam in the tank too, but the problem persisted.

So anyway, today I found a crack in the small fuel line that runs into the lower part of the power head. I attached a picture of the line Im talking about. It was definitely spilling some fuel.

Obviously I'm going to replace that line, but do you think what's causing my poor idle problem? Or is there something else I should be looking for too?

Did you Check all your linkage adjustments?I have one similar (1985)and from I learned from this site ,that hose enriches your engine when you have the Manuel primer pushed part way in for warm up.You should not be getting fuel out that hose in any volume if the primer is pushed in.Replace the hose and leave one end off while running and see if you are getting fuel. Not sure, but you may suck air in doing that if not blocked off?Could be many issues. How many turns out is your slow speed screw?Spark?I lost all spark two weeks ago on the river and found my ground for the CDI was not good.Probably had weak spark all along.Hope this helps, I am still learning also.

I haven't done much outside of the carb. Low speed screw is 1.5 turns out right now. I'm going to start by replacing all my fuel lines as soon as I find somewhere that sells them.

Need to clean that carb better, looks awful. Full carb kit too..I would start there. But any cracked lines are equally important as well.
