No oil after 2 minutes, oil tank is air tight

This is a 70hp 2000 johnson. It gets oil for the first minutes then stops and the no oil light comes on. Is my oil tank suppose to be air tight, because it is?

I just picked up the boat, the engine has less than 50 hrs. The last guy was still adding oil to the gas to break it in. I just filled up with gas and am getting all my oil from the oil injection.

Only boat-mounted merc oil tanks are air tight. Yours is supposed to be vented. Mix up a 6 ga; tank of premix and run it with the cap loose. If it injects oil, see if the tank/cap are OEM.

The tank is not air tight, but the fuel line needs to be air tight. Try repriming the oil line, if it does not help, you most likely have an air leak.
