Hello,
I have an 2001 Evinrude 225 Ficht. While I was out boating yesterday I went to restart my boat after sitting for a half hour or so and recieved a no oil tone and light from my gauge. (problem is I had a 3/4 full tank of oil) Primer ball was hard. Removed return line from engine to tankand was getting about 12 oz. fluid in 40 seconds. (sounds like plenty). One thing I noticed was upon turning the key off and placing in the on position the four lights went through thier regular sequence but the no oil light stayed on. Could it be a sensor or possible even the gauge? I don't believe it's the pump with that kind of flow.
Thanks to anyone who could help...

With the key on and the no oil lite illuminated, remove the tan wire from the oil pressure switch on the oil pump. If the lite goes out, you have a bad switch. If the lite stays on, you may have a wiring problem, bad gauge, or in a rare case, a false signal from the computer.

To be on the safe side, remove each pulse line from the oil pump and see if there is any leakage from a torn diaphragm.
