I have been having aproblem starting my boat after sitting for a few days. If I run a jumper wire to the fuel pump I can get it to run, then it will start right up. I want to fix it before I put it away.
The fuel pump has a purple/yellow wire that comes froma small post on the starter solenoid (on the starter).
THere is also a black wire that I have not traced back. I am not sure if it is a ground or a second power feed.
I have read through a lot of posts and have learned there are two feed. One for start up and one for running. I assume the the purple/yellow wire from the soleniod provides power when the key is turned on. Is that correct? SHould the pump run as soon as the key is in the "on" position?
I read that it may be the oil pressure sensor but I dont think that would come into play until the engine is running.
I am trying to determine if I should pull the starter and have the solenoid serviced (I have a shop nearby).
The boat is a 98 bayline capri with a 4.3 engine.
