no power tilt/manual lock release

The motor is a 1980 140 inline 6 with no power tilt and no manual lock release. Is this motor supposed to have a manual lock release?? I have to take the pin out every time to raise the motor. It's a pain in the butt specially at the dock. I would like to find a lock release so I won't have to go in the water every time to remove the pin so I can raise the motor. Any info about a lock release would be great. Thanks.

Gary

Put the gear selector in forward and raise the motor....

Shift/Throttle lever....It will release the motor when you shift into forward automatically...If you look at the pin, you will see a set of "Teeth" that grab the pin. When in forward, the teeth raise up and release from the pin...
