No power to GPS

This year, I have had one problem after another with my boat. Here is my latest problem. I installed a new marine radio in the boat over the weekend. I shut the batteries off and then cut the wires on the old radio to find there was still power going to the radio despite the batteries being shut off. Radio must be direct to the batteries. Got the radio hooked up and working, but now my GPS is dead. I assume I blew a fuse, but have checked all the inline fuses that I can find by the fuse box and they all look fine. Any ideas what to do next?

Re: No power to GPS

My radio and gps are on a fuse pannel fuse as well as BOTH having inline fuse holders supplyed with the units

The best bet is to use a meter and confirm they are getting 12 volts and have a good GROUND (black wire)connection

Is your fuse close to the box or somewhere else? I assumed that a fuse was the problem, but cant seem to locate it.

Re: No power to GPS

IF they were used they would be very close to the units SO it would depend on who installed it as it could have been cut off

Re: No power to GPS

I would start at the unit with a volt meter or at least a good test light and just follow the wires all the way to the battery.

Check the pins and power plug on the back of the unit. Do you have 12 volts there?? Are the Pins clean and not green in color??

Follow inch by inch to the battery.

Thanks for the suggestions, I am going to try to get it figured out on Friday.
