2001 Mercury 90hp 2 stroke on a 2001 Nitro 700LX
Was out in the water running great always started right up with no problems. Went to start it to head back into shoe and nothing. No clicking noise or anything. Thinking dead battery I switched batteries and still nothing. Everything else works, horn, lights, live well, bilge pump, fish finder. Trim will not work either now. Any ideas? No power to motor or trim.

Check wiring at control box including electrical connector at both ends.

Thanks will do that today. The only thing O checked so far were the fuses at the fuse box

Re: No Power to motor or trim

Aussie, I have the Mercury V6 135hp as well, only a 1972. My question is I had it out yesterday ran fine for 3 or 4 miles up and down the river. But noticed it had no power. The carbs was just rebuilt so not sure if they needed adjusted or what not. However on the way in I heard a tapping noise and then it just died. Do you have any idea's what it might be? The prop spins and the top of the motor still spins as well. So not sure what it might be. Everyone is telling me it sounds like the starter. But I have put so much money already into this motor and not having much more. Any suggestions?

Re: No Power to motor or trim

If needing more info, I had the motor checked. It has 123 or higher compression on all 6 cylinders. The man who worked on it was suprised being an older motor like that. But when he went to fire her up noticed she was pouring gas out everywhere. He noticed that the carb seals were all shot. So he replaced them and she fired right up. He had did the tune up on her, but now no power. We put a new water pump in her and replaced all lower seals. So now were dumb founded and dont know what else to do next. I just hope its not something major. Im not familiar with boats at all and never owned one. Until my father passed and it was part of his estate and now here I am.

Re: No Power to motor or trim

not an expert here but I think we are looking too deep into the woods right past the problem.
Look under the enging cowling for a fuse. From my outboard experince (fair amount) most all of them have a circuit for the trim and ignition that is fused inline at the motor. It protects the starting and trim circuit.
check it out and let me know if you find it
