no power

Its been a while since my last battle with the bolts that hold my motor to the lower unit so far six heli coils are holding great but I now have another issue arising. On one of my trial runs the water cooling system didn't function which was 100 percent my fault. The out come is no power at low end and not top end power. It starts and idles perfect and will get up on plain just fine but it seems like it is running at half speed. My attention is directed towards the new stator that I put on less then a year ago. I know the motor got very hot and I believe it damaged the stator. I still have great compression and I swapped power packs with no change. I took it to a OMC mechanic and asked if they can check the stator but a week later and $160 they have not done what I asked. I told them to stop work on it because soon it would be cheaper to purchase an aftermarket stator to test the problem. I guess my question is can I send that stator to OMC myself to test it for how well it functions or do I just buy a aftermarket and take the warrenty as a loss? Any suggestion woudl be great. Thanks

Re: no power

Do you have a factory manual for this engine? The manual might have resistance tests for the stator. the manual might cover testing the stator with the engine running. Just thinkin.

Re: no power

I didn't think of that one I will check. I purchased a manual specific for this motor so it should be in there. I remember when I was trouble shooting the first stator problem I had a general manual and it didn't cover it. Thanks
