no power

had the boat out monday for first time this year.. had it started to other day on muffs and it started and ran fine. went to lake , well i flooded it i guess , i let it set for about 3 hours and it started and idale fine , when i put it in gear and advanced the power it would start to reve up and then fall on its face. and die. any ideas. 1996 evenrude 150 v6

Motor dies like that on acceleration, instead of just bogging down and going slow, usually points to not enough spark advance. Either idle set too low, or pickup timing is a little off.
