Re: no power

This is at least your third post on the same subject. It makes it real difficult to help if we don't know what has already been tried. Did you disconnect the shift switch like I suggested? If so what was the results?

Hooty

Re: no power

I'm not a boat pro (recently dunked my father in-laws 15hp in the ocean for 20 min, what brought me here) but I do know my way around cars. Newer electronic engines employ what is called a "coil pack" that sends spark to the plugs directly rather than through a distributor. Often times, on 6cyl engines, one coil pack will spark 3 cyl, while another sparks the other three. Sounds like this may be the case with yours. Follow the spark plug wires of the three cyls that are not firing ( the ones in which you can cover the carburator with your hand and nothing happpens, these are not firing) back and see if they all attach to (basicly) the same electronic component. Chances are that if they do, this is your "bad" coil pack. I'm sure a repair shop can test for you if you remove it and take it in, as well as supply you with new if bad.
Good Day :D

Re: no power

The shift switch I suggested she disconnect shorts out three cylinders when shifting gears. If the switch is defective or not adjusted properly, the three cylinders will stay shorted. It's a pretty common problem and easy to fix.

Hooty

Re: no power

I think the shift switch he refers to is under the hood on the starboard side down near the bottom. It should have two wires (black I think) running to it from the power pack. When you shift it rotates a few degrees and the button on top gets pushed in killing spark momentarily to one side to make it easier to shift.
