No prop or pitch data to compare to for Rebuild/Repower

Howdy from the rookie,

I am working on the rebuild of a 1988 Traveler Tunnel Hull Flat Bottom, 18'x96" beam. I have a new (07 model) 90HP Optimax (2.33 gears) on the transom (and hyd jackplate) with no prop, so I have no data to compare to for my prop shopping.

I will weigh the boat when it is put back together, but I am guessing around 2000 lbs gross for an average day. This will be a fishing/duck boat on the lower Colorado River and will pull a tube/knee board occasionally. I will prefer acceleration over top end speed and I believe a Trophy Plus is my long term target, but I would like to start with a 4 blade Aluminum to test pitch which will later become my backup.

From all of my reading....it looks like 17"-19" is a reasonable target for my 5000-5750 RPM range, but I was hoping for better than a guess.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

crickets.......

I tried an old Laser II which was originally a 20P but someone had taken a little pitch out. Boat was about 2200 #s. Prop slipped on hole shot and was able to overspeed/hit the limiter. WOT on plane had me right there at about 5740 RPM. Had a 17P Trophy Plus on the way already which arrived after that test. PropGods said to give it a shot as it should not slip at all and may wind up being just right.
