Hi, I have a Mercury 1996 60hp. Has been running great except last week. we were leaving marina and as I throttled up, motor would not go past 3400 rpms. It started right up at dock, and ran good, no missing or anything but would not go past 3400. I had motor fixed earlier in year, waterpump and a oil hose, that caused motor to die at wot. all seemed good till now. It was low on fuel, but I filled it and still the same. except I got 3600 going straight. It would dropoff when turning left or right.3200. any Ideas? also there is new fuel line and bulb. Thanks

i generally work on 80's engines but - i suspect either the trigger or advance circuit is not working or the stator high speed circuit is dead - get a manual and look up the test procedures , you will need a dva meter -sold here on iboats and the testing is real easy .
