I just bought a 1994 Nitro 170-TF Bass Boat a few weeks ago with a 1994 Mariner 90hp motor. It is Oil Injected, but when you turn the key to the "on" position there is NO self test beep. Isn't this motor supposed to have that self test beep?

Motor runs good, no problems, waters and is getting oil as normal, with no warning beeps or anything.

Just curious as to why I don't have that Beep?

Yes it should. Check to see if the oil alert module is getting 12V. If it is, then ground the output wire, which should also be connected to the OT switch. If it beeps, the oil alert module is bad. If it doesn't, there's either a break in the wire to the horn, or the horn isn't getting 12V.

You'll have to round up both engine and boat wiring diagrams to chase it down.

Hope it helps

I actually just was looking around on here, and seen the post about the oil float sensor going bad, well I just went out and pulled the hood off and sure enough one of the Blue wires was unplugged and there was a purple wire unplugged. I guess the purple one was power for the horn(beeper). I plugged them both in and as soon as I turned the ket on it done it's beep, and then continued to beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Now what?

I guess the previous owner unplugged them to stop the beeping.

Is that what they were talking about it's not a continuous beep, but a intermittent beep. The oil tank is over half full, and I know the oil invection system is working.

You think replacing the oil tank with it having a new sensor fix the issue, where I could plug the wires back in and everything be beeping like it's supposed to?
