No ser# on 85 fource What year?

Any idea how to figure out what year a 85 hp Force is without the serial #? It appears to be sun-bleached off the mounting plate.

Lots of differences to compare.<br />You may never get an exact year, but close.<br />Color for one.<br />Cowling graphics for two. <br />That should narrow it down a little.<br />Then either get a Clymer repair manual, and/or go to mercruiserparts.com/selectModels2.asp?type_id=FORC<br /><br />and compare different years with what you have. They have exploded parts diagrams for all models.<br /><br />Key parts to compare are the gearcase, ignition parts, etc.
