No sound?

Ok, so I puts a new cruzer 4 gig flash drive in the USB on my xp machine and lose all sound, everything else works just no sound. Any ideas on how to get it back? It happened once before when I installed something on this machine and I figgered it out. I just don't remember what I did. SOS

I am no expert but if the reboot did not work try reinstalling the sound card.

Check the simple stuff first. Speakers powered on? Speakers connected to the sound card? Volume control on computer AND speakers not set too low or mute.

Sound card still showing up in the device manager?

In control panel>Sounds>Sounds and audio device>audio tab, make sure that your sound card is selected as the default device.

Well Plainsman you are the winner. I just couldn't remember what to select there so I guessed and it works now. Thanks...wait a minute I guess I am the winner on this one. Thanks again

I guess you all were correct. I can't tell you how many times I checked the device manager but I didn't know what I was looking at. Chief Chief
