NO SPARK - 15HP Mariner

Hello,

I am new to this thread and new to boating. I just boat my first motor and of course it is not running.

I am not getting a SPARK. This is what I have done so far.

I traced back after getting no spark from the plugs, to the black box (I believe the amplifier), I took each of those wires apart one at a time, and checked for spark and got nothing there. I took off the fly wheel and cleaned it up a bit with carb cleaner (seemed to be pretty clean)

I do not know where to go from here to help get a spark. I tried putting the killswitch up and down, and even unplugging the wire.



Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem?

I held the wires coming from the magneto to the ingnition unit and felt a shock.

So I may not have seen the spark but its there. I will go further feeling it out to see what I get

So now i felt a spark after the ingnition unit, very light shock didnt really hurt.

Now Im up to the coil so that must be the problem?

So I think that it is the coil because it is the last thing not getting a spark.


I am having trouble looking for the part number online.


I believe it is a 1988 15m code 684-c-s model 064420

any place to see schematics or diagrams?

The part no. on the coil is CM62-22 CDI B

Anybody have one?

weird....

now I am getting a spark. must have been something I sprayed that needed to evaporate. Guess I didn't need any help

Sometimes these things just seem to work themselves out....
