Picked up old 10hp honda has CDI, might be mid-80's?? Took out last weekend worked fine, today no spark. Any ideas, I'm not familiar with this motor and it would be nice if this is a somewhat common problem with easy fix.:)

Check the electrical connections on the starboard side of the engine, remove and clean. I had the same problem a couple months ago and I got spark back after cleaning them.

Re: No Spark BF100???

OK, for those out there that may have the same "no spark" issue, this is what the problem was on my mid-80's bf100: The wires coming from the neutral safety switch (at gear lever just inside hood) were so coroded (no longer copper in color but dark brown) that the signal from the CDI wasnt passing through. I found this out by pluging the two leads from the CDI together therefore bypassing the neutral safety switch. Now the motor runs again and I will be replacing the neutral switch for safety reasons.

Thanks for posting you fix. I too have been having some of the same problems with my 15hp. I guess I will have to follow you adavice and start checking all the fitting. I do run strictly salt water so doesn't (won't) surprise if I find some of the same stuff.
