In my 1989 4.3liter omc (seaswirl), I am converting points to electric ignition. I hooked it up correctly but for some reason I am only pulling 4-6 volts from the coil.... unfortunately not enough to spark! I was curious if I could run another wire to a 12 v switch such as the starter coil or something and connect it to the poss side of the coil for full juice? I am not sure what I can do.... thought the conversion was prety cut and dry. Any help would be great. Thanks.

What type of "electric ignition"?
If it's a capacitor discharge module that replaces the points, it will want a full 12 volts, so you may need to bypass a resistor wire. It probably is bypassed through the crank circuit now, to give a hot spark during starts.

Some testing with a voltmeter is in order to see what you have.
Are there instructions with the module?
