The 35 has a magneto or a battery ignition. It appears yours would have a battery ignition.points and condensers under the flywheel and a coil for each cylinder outside.
You will need a puller.I believe a harmonic balancer puller will work. You can find one at Harbor Frieght. You'll need at least 5 line bolts to use with the puller.

Dono: you just had a post about an ignition switch. This makes me suspect.
So, before you go pulling the flywheel, lets do the easy stuff first.

Coming out from under the flywheel will be a pair of black or brown wires that look like lamp cord. This is the kill circuit.. If they (both or either one) are frayed or grounded, the engine will have no spark. Check their condition.

These wires connect to the blue and white terminals on the engine. Disconnect them and insulate so they can not ground. If you now have spark, the problem is in the large cable to ignition switch or the switch itself. If you still have no spark, then it is time to pull the flywheel and service the points and condensers.

Also, be sure there is a short black ground wire connecting the point carrier plate to the block. If this is missing it may or will affect operation of the points. The point carrier rides on a greased bronze bushing. The grease can insulate it, then the points have no ground. With no ground, the magnetic field will not collapse quickly and you will have no spark. Simple but very important wire-wouldn't think it, would you? Little things the manual doesn't tell you!

Re: no spark on 1970 35Hp wards seaking

Iv e just finished checking , cleaning and in some cases making new connections in some of the wiring you mentioned. It just started rain outside so i had to come in and couldnt finish, and check for spark again. However my question is this, it is to my understanding that the blue and white wires that come to the key switch are designed to short out to kill the engine,,,,and on the original key switch they had seperate terminals where they hooked up. I purchesed a new key switch that looks very similar but on this switch it says to have the blue n white wires on the same terminal. That doesnt make sence to me because that would mean, the wires are shorted? Am i understanding this correcly or am i way off? Do you think i got the wrong type of switch for my motor?? I know its not an exact match, its the closest thing my local dealer had, its a 77-95 johnson evinrude switch, 77 series

heres the letters and descriptions for it

S start circut

C primer

A switched

M ground

B switched

M stop circuit " where it shows both wires going there" ?????

After writing all this out and the more i think......I think i have the wrong switch, I am going to disconnect one of the blue or white wires and see if i get a spark. That would be one way to test asssuming im tinking correctly. Thanks for any help
