I'm not getting any spark on either cylinder of my 1987 Evinrude 48HP outboard. Here are the things I have checked so far:
1. Separated black/yellow kill wire at 5-pin connector and cranked - No Spark.
2. Reconnected black/yellow kill wire. Disconnected red barrel plug and jumped starter - no spark.
3. Replaced charge coil and sensor assembly on a guess - No Spark.
4. Using multimeter without a DVA (one is ordered) checked all the voltages and resistance that I could. Nothing out of range. Again, I have no DVA so I could not test Power Pack and other electronics as described in the service manual.
One thing I did note - I connected a lead from the Black/Yellow wire on the Power Pack side of the 5-pin connector and checked with multimeter while cranking the engine and it showed around 50 Volts. Is this normal?
Any suggestions are appreciated...
