1972 9.5 Johnson with no spark at plugs. coils, points, condensors look new, i realize no guarentee.... my question is around the shorting switch, how does it work? this one seems to be disconnected. the two wires come from the switch are cut connected together with a black connector, can't seems how this can result in anything. then the two wires that seem to be intended to run from under the flywheel destined for the switch are also connected together with the same sort of black connector. Could this be why i get no spark? doesn't make sense to me but i'm a rookie...
please set me straight.

Re: No spark, shorting switch question

With out getting into a lot of detail. You will not get spark if the system is grounded out. That's how you stop the engine is by grounding out. Sounds like the 2 wires from under the flywheel should be seperated for spark and connected for no spark.
