no spark solved...for me

i was working on a 95 vip with 5.7 merc. all day long and couldnt get any fire.so i did what we all do and buy a new coil..and what do u know....still no spark....so i had a cold one and searched this forum for no spark and was reading through and just stumbled on a DonS post about a merc. 3.0 same scenario and at the end he said try unhooking the tach (grey) wire from the coil and i did as last ditch effort...and ill b dammed fired right up!!! sooooo with all that said give it a whirl....i can live with out a tach for now. HAPPY LABOR DAY! safe boating....and if anyone knows DonS personally buy him a drink....

Good to hear man! But i think that was in the no spark thing too. It grounds out teh system if I remember correct. Dont shoot me i may be wrong, but I think thats what I read when working on mine awile back. Either way good to know! Don S seems to be one of the great guys on here to listen to!
