No spark to top two cylinders on a 1984 Force. 85 hp

Well, I've been tinkering with my engine. Heli-coil, checked the compression, made sure the carbs are doing what they should and then I checked the spark. It's a 3 cylinder. The top two cylinders get no spark when the engine is cold. If I start it up and after it warms up a bit (about 2 minutes), all of a sudden it runs fine.
Coils maybe?
What do you guys think?

Thanks.

More likely cd module or stator, than coils.

Before you go that route, check all the ground wires on the ignition board and coils.

Starts on 1 cylinder?
Change the power packs around. How old are the plugs?
Loose wires,ground?

Yes, it starts on one cylinder. BARELY, but it does run on one. Once it warms up, it runs fine.
I changed the plugs about a month ago but I am changing them again today.
I'm assuming the power packs are the black square boxes next to the coils? It looks like one feeds two cylinders and the other is feeding one? Is this correct?
If one of the power packs are bad, how much are those to replace?

Well, I switched the CD modules around. The first one fired the top two cylinders and the other CD module fired the bottom cylinder. When I switched them around, I now get spark to the top two cylinders and nothing to the bottom cylinder so I'm assuming the first CD module is bad.
Am I correct in my assumption?????
If so, where is the cheapest place I can find another CD module? I've seen a few on Ebay but they are used. Should I buy a used one or pay the price for new?
One last question. What is the proper module?

I have someone close by that has a new CD module but it's a blue one for a later model. Can that be used on my engine?

Yes maverick blue and black CD modules and coils are interchangeable. I let 2 good CD modules and a good coil go on ebay for 20 bucks a few weeks ago... What was I thinking with no reserve? Sorry you missed it.

Wish I could have stolen that!!!
When buying, make sure the packs are for the right year.
The 84 comes with twist connectors(I believe)the newer years has blade connectors.

Is that the only difference? Can I use the blue ones or must I use the black ones? What's the difference between the newer ones and the ones on my 1984 model?

Well, they aren't twist connectors but very similar. They plug straight in with a clip.
So could I use a different year module if I changed the connectors or are the modules different. Other than the connectors, what's the difference between the newer ones and mine?

The only difference is the connectors. You will need to cut the some of the connectors and make your connections with either crimp connectors or small wire nuts.

Re: No spark to top two cylinders on a 1984 Force. 85 hp

I've been looking around for a CD module and I have some questions. I found a cd module but it works on a 25 to 50 horse engines. Would that work on mine? Mine are black and this one is blue.
Specifically, what CD modules would work on my 1984 Force engine? 85 hp. Are there specific part numbers I need to look for?
Again, I thank you for all your help.
