Hello, I'm a newbie when it comes to working on outboards so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 91 135 v6 merc that will not start. I checked for spark the other day and there was none. What would be the most logical thing to check first and do i need special test equipment other than a regula multimeter? On another not so related note I'm wondering if I should be seeing some gas in the cards when I squeeze the primer bulb. Fuel is maing it up through the inline filter. This motor hasn't run in 3 years so Ive got my work cut out for me. It does have good compression.

Re: No Spark

kill switch, tilt switch, stator, trigger, all can be tested with a multi-meter

Re: No Spark

The first test is to disconnect the killer wire (Black/yellow) at the switchboxes.

You might get on the CDI.com or Dolphinmarineservices.com websites and look up the troubleshooting procedure for your ADI Ignition.
