So i have not been getting any spark/intermittent spark on my 1988 60hp johnson, but after reading a few threads I disconnected the red plug and jumped the starter and got a nice spark. so which part do i test now the ignition switch, neutral start switch? i know the key switch is aftermarket and was replaced in 2006 if that matters.

KILL SWITCH. Is the lanyard attached??? I suppose the ignition switch is a possibility. The neutral start switch is not. The black wire with yellow stripe might be shorted to ground somewhere. Be careful messing around in there. You can blow the power pack by shorting or connecting the wires incorrectly.

Re: No spark

No kill switch?? Well, ok then you do not have the control that came with the motor. But it probably is ok since it has worked till now. Yes, black/yellow is the kill wire.
